We have some wonderful news to share! Our Bay Area chapter of Kids Against Hunger has joined forces with Convoy of Hope to start school feeding programs in Puerto Rico. The Convoy of Hope organization will aid in the distribution of food, maximizing our combined resources to make sure the children of Puerto Rico don’t go hungry at school.

Convoy of Hope, founded in 1994, has a driving passion to feed the world. With a long history as an early responder in times of natural disasters, Convoy of Hope has been a Four Star Charity as recognized by Charity Navigator for 14 consecutive years. Since 1994, Convoy of Hope has served more than 85 million people.

Man Cave Craft Eats Feeds over 850,000 hungry children

 -Access to food is a human right, not a privilege, says CEO.

  • Man Cave Craft Eats is an emerging food brand out of Minneapolis, MN. Selling their awesome products at local Safeways. Having started small in their local farmers market, the brand is now available in over 5000 grocery retailers nationwide. Offering flavor-forward craft creations, their portfolio of burgers, sausages and ground products are quickly becoming standards for family meals and social gatherings. For every package of Man Cave Craft Eats that is purchased, a meal is provided to a child in need. The program is called Bite Back, and continues to grow with the business. Man Cave projects a total of 1 million meals in 2017! One pack = one meal.
  • Man Cave is excited to partner with Kids Against Hunger, the world largest humanitarian food network and with over 60 satellites across the US and Canada, and in 67 different countries. This partnership gives you & Man Cave the ability to feed hungry children around the world and around the corner.
  • Tuesday, January 30th we will be packing 50,000 meals with Safeway employees and Man Cave right here in Pleasanton at Inklings on Main Street!

When asked how long they plan on staying in the fight against hunger, MCCE CEO Nick Beste said “This isn’t a trend for us, or a call to social justice, this is just who we are. We are in this fight until no child goes to bed hungry. We are in this till the end.”                                                                        

Disaster Relief

Last weekend, Austin Disaster Relief Network brought 1,000 volunteers to Port Arthur Texas for a massive blitz to help the people in this city recover from the hurricane.  Along with the volunteers were 59,400 meals from KAH Bay Area.  Five pallets of food have also been sent to Mexico City.  Florida will receive 118,800 meals, of which half will be distributed in Florida and half to Puerto Rico

Sign up at any of the packing events this week, we need your help!  KAH Bay Area is actively working to support victims of the recent hurricanes in Houston, Florida & Puerto Rica and making plans to send meals to all three areas.  Meanwhile, we are continuing to support Haiti without a reduction in the number of meals we send.   Thankfully, we have a lot of packing events scheduled for the remainder of 2017.   If you would like to pack meals, please join a packing event and help us prepare the needed meals.
